Motivated by the desire to safeguard and develop our province’s natural treasures, we, as Presidents of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster, participated in the signing of a letter of intent. This agreement involves the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, alongside various entities in Puerto Plata, to co-manage the Laguna Cabarete and Goleta Natural Monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The signed document outlines actions to establish a Co-management Agreement for Laguna de Cabarete and Goleta Natural Monument, ensuring compliance with conservation objectives and environmental regulations. It commits to taking necessary steps for the co-management of protected areas in accordance with Dominican Republic regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collaborative effort aims to promote the protection and development of the natural monument, emphasizing financial self-sustainability as per the management Plan. Joint efforts will be made for the proper development of the Co-management Agreement’s activities in communities within the Laguna de Cabarete y Goleta Natural Monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Birgitt Heinsen, Sustainability and Public Manager of our company, representing the Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster, expressed support for the initiative. She emphasized, “The Cluster’s mission is to integrate the entire tourism value chain, including sustainability actions, making it our interest to support initiatives promoting the appropriate use and preservation of natural attractions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
